Siar Tree. <3 Back when I was in college, in a radio program, a voice actor once said that "yellow means happiness". Indeed, yellow gives happiness just like these yellow flowers of Siar Tree that brighten and lighten one's mood. :) It is always a joy to walk onto this path at the Provincial Capitol of Isabela, Region 01, Despite the recent hot weather, the blooming flowering Siar Tree, a Philippine Native Tree, refreshes one's eyes with its eye-catching yellow flowers matching the greens around and blue sky. The tree also provides a shade for the scorching heat. A perfect refresher for the season. The fallen flowers of the Siar Tree also feel like natural confetti that adorn the road. We planted this Siar tree in the Future Forest during the height of the pandemic lockdown, while I was gestating Adlau in my belly. Starting a forest for baby Z (Adlau's fetal nickname) helped us cope with the isolation and dread of the pandemic. It gace us purpose. It gave us permission to be outside, to get our hands dirty, and to hold on to hope. In the face of climate change and uncertainty, it pushed us to imagine a livable, thriving future. Today, this blooming Siar tree stands as a reminder that the future is green. This tree will continue to grow and spread its branches and roots. It will be a home for birds and insects.
